A highly unusual "personal signature" on the base of this basket takes the form
of a small "oso" or bear-like animal. Since bears are not commonly associated
with the Darién Rainforest, we have concluded that this weaver was most likely
given a small panda-bear as a child by some well-intentioned missionary.
